Jinnie Seo (b.1963) is best known for her monumentally scaled on-site projects crossing the borders between drawing/painting and sculpture/installation. Employing diverse materials and techniques, she takes a poetic yet meticulous approach in exploring the aesthetics of time and space, traditional and contemporary as well as the multi-perspectival layers arising between the viewers and the works.

Her recent solo exhibitions include at Hapjungjigu, Seoul (2017), Gallery Factory, Seoul (2016), Muziekgebouw aan ¡®t IJ, Amsterdam (2014), Asan Institute of Policy Studies, Seoul (2012), Horim Art Center, Seoul (2010), Mongin Art Center, Seoul (2009), the National Museum of Singapore, Singapore (2008), and the Third Floor Gallery, Hermes, Singapore (2007); recent group exhibitions include at the Kumho Museum, Seoul (2017), Gallery Simon, Seoul (2017), the Plateau Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul (2014), the Praxis Space, La Salle, Singapore (2013), Platform Kimusa, Seoul (2009), PKM Gallery, Beijing (2007), the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul (2006).

She received BA in biology and MFA in painting from New York University, New York in 1986 and 1992 respectively. She also studied at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine in 1990.

She currently lives and works in Seoul.
