Born in 1963 in Seoul, Jinnie Seo grew up in both Korea and the United States. She is best known for her
monumentally scaled on-site projects crossing the borders between drawing/painting and sculpture/installation.
Employing diverse materials and techniques, she takes a poetic yet meticulous approach in exploring
the aesthetics of time and space, traditional and contemporary as well as the multi-perspectival layers arising
between the viewers and the works.

Her recent solo exhibitions include Wave at the Asan Institute of Policy Studies, Seoul (2012),
Soundscape at Horim Art Center, Seoul (2010), end of the Rainbow at Mongin Art Center, Seoul (2009),
Storm at the National Museum of Singapore, Singapore (2008), and Wander/Wonder at The Third Floor,
The Hermes, Singapore (2007); recent group exhibitions include Spectrum Spectrum at the
Plateau Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul (2014), The Show Must Go On at the Praxis Space, La Salle, Singapore (2013),
Platform Seoul 2009 at Kimusa, Seoul (2009), Imagery Play at PKM Gallery, Beijing (2007),
Spectrum at the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Seoul (2006).

She received both her BA in biology and MFA in painting fromNew York University,
New York in 1986 and 1992 respectively. She also studied at Skowhegan School of
Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine in 1990.
She currently lives and works in Seoul.
